I am contemplating my first Hyrox. I n March of this year, I watched HYROX load in to the Walter E Washington Convention Center to set up for the HYROX Americans Regional Championships. This was my second time seeing the event in the Convention Center. The first was in March 2025 when I learned about the event for the first time. Due to the success of the event in March, they decided to bring it back AGAIN during Labor Day weekend. This time, the event will take place over 5 days.
The inner competitor in me cannot help but to be curious if I could complete the race. I have spoken with a couple of people regarding what would be involved with registering. As of today, we are about 2 months out and all of the solo events are sold out. There are still a couple of options I can explore to enter, but the first order of business is to assess my fitness, which at the moment, is less than optimal. If I am being honest, it feels non existent.
Today, I started running (2, 1 runs) and working through a couple of movements for the different stations of the race. In particular, I did several reps of wall balls and about 200 meters on the SkiERG. It was eye opening to say the least. Over the next week, I will determine if I am going to enter the race. During that time, I will also try to iron out the details of what a compressed training schedule would look like for me.
I will share all of the details here on the blog, regardless of what the final decision happens to be.
